One of our short cuts to getting out of the sense of hoplessness is to make a list of things you are grateful for in your life. Another way is to focus on how things could be worse – you could be starving and dying of thirst in the desert or be caught in the middle of a civil war unable to escape.
Either way helps you focus on what works in your life instead of what doesn’t work and this in turn boosts your energy enabling you to focus on solving your problem or changing your situation in a constructive manner.
